If you are in the USA you can get the reset utility from Epson in USA but will only work on USA serial numbered models - even though models the same sold elsewhere are the same - clearly an unfair restriction on those of us outside the USA. In any event, if you have a reset utility for current model - you should try that. If it does not work you will get a message to tell you so not a problem as you can check for yourself. There is software online that will normally reset most Epson printers that have reached this limit and is used by Epson Service Engineers called SSC Service Utility (sscserve.exe), however this does not reset the Epson RX-500 protection counter / firmware.

I got my reset utility for my 1400 from him and it works fine. I am pretty sure the 1430 is the same as the 1400 so same utility should work for both but Martin will be the chap to ask. He does supply the utility for the 1430 - just enter into search panel 1430 and you will quickly get to the info/ordering page for that model. Does any one knows Epson UK or US giving free utility to buyers? No one outside of the USA gives free utilities for Waste Ink Counter resetting. That's why you have to pay for one and the link I gave you to contact Martin at OctoInk would resolve your problem for a relatively small sum - far cheaper than returning printer to Epson to have the waste pads replaced and counter reset.

You should, of course (mentioned many times in this Forum and found easily via a Search) fit a drain tube and bottle - plenty of information and easy to do on that - and most other - Epsons. Also plenty of videos (some good, many poor) on youtube.com. If you are looking for a freebie - forget it - they don't exist outside of Epson USA and as previously indicated - you can only even download if you have a USA Serial Number and if someone in the USA sends you the utility as a file - it will not work unless you also have a USA serial specific to your actual printer for it to work - you cannot fool it.
